The Courtney Bed | Print |

Cyr Designs, LLC is the proud maker of the Courtney Bed, a hand-crafted pediatric Special Needs bed for children who have a cognitive disability and need a safe place to sleep. The Courtney Bed is a great alternative to a standard hospital bed and is designed for children with cerebral palsy, Autism, Down Syndrome, Angelman Syndrome or mental retardation.

The child is surrounded by a solid hardwood frame coupled with soft-sided fabric panels that eliminate the possibility a user will fall out of bed and will limit nighttime wandering. Sewn into the panels are mesh netting windows that are very strong and non-abrasive and allow the individual to fall or bounce against them without injury. The front panel is zip-able to allow entrance into the sleeping area and because the inner compartment is padded, head banging or other unsafe activity is extremely minimized.

The Courtney Bed comes equipped with a washable twin-sized inner-spring hospital mattress that fits snug into the frame. The mattress and bottom rail combination discourages burrowing and will not allow the child to get wedged between the two.

Unlike the majority of pediatric hospital beds offered today, the top of the Courtney Bed is completely open, allowing children with Special Needs an opportunity to bounce up and down unrestricted. We have found this activity is extremely beneficial to our daughter in ameliorating the sensory issues she encounters.

The Courtney Bed has been in service since 1995 and has performed admirably every night. It has received approval for sale in the U.S. from the Food and Drug Administration and has been awarded a patent by the U.S. Patent Office.
